Dave 2004 Rememberies
I remember this time that I needed to borrow some pants or shoes so that I could go to Elk Shoals and visit some work sites. Dave told me that I could go to his house and use what I could find, although on both counts his apparel would probably be too large. I ended up going back to Huntersville before I went to Elk Shoals, but it was still nice of Dave to offer. But still, Dave Andrews has some big shoes to fill, and we all know who wears the pants in this office.
good times
I remember this time that we were helping Dave remodel his home while he was gone at camp. We figured this would be a nice gesture, since we were living in his home in the meantime. When he got back, I never heard him say thank you or react much at all. That's not the point, though. The point is that everything should somehow relate to me and my feelings.

I remember this time that it was time to go to lunch, or according to the personnel policy, probably well past time. And there were many complaints and questions about when we were going to go to lunch, usually spearheaded by Kate, but with Traci closely behind. I was probably hungrier than both of them, but I think I was much more resigned to the fact that we were never going to go. The hold up was typically that Dave would not come out of his office, while the other four of us were ready to go. When Dave finally would come out, he would mutter some comment about "I'm waiting on you guys" and then we would go. Then came the discussions of where we were going, and how we would get there. Yes sir, lunch at the office was good times.
I remember this time I was a camper at McCall and Dave showed up. I said it felt like it had been a million years since I had seen him, although it had actually just been one week. That's pretty much all I recall of that conversation.
good times
I remember this time that I called Dave and asked him if I could stay at his house. Or actually, I told him I needed a place to stay that night, and he said "good luck," and then we both had a good laugh. Finally he informed me I could stay at his house. This was at about 11:30 pm. I got the impression that I need not call and ask such things, and in fact, I think Dave may have already been in bed. He said "my house is your house" or at least implied it. Yes sir, Dave Andrews is good people.

I remember this time that Dave was a camper at Pfeiffer University. I went there and he was being extremely loud and boisterous. He was also being extremely late for dinner. This didn't seem to bother anyone though, and it bothered Dave perhaps least of all. Then he told some story about painting handrails and a woman who thought he was handsome. Good times. What Dave probably didn't know was that I visited Pfeiffer other times that week, but without his knowledge.
Good times
I remember this time I was mad and went into Dave's office about it. Later Dave came out and we sat down and had a brief little chat. Dave has a fine way of making you feel better without taking your side or anybody else's. Although that may not sound like a compliment, it is. Then we went to Cherryville and had what some would call the world's best burger. I wouldn't call it that (although it was good) but I would say that the company at least was world-class. Thanks Dave! Oh and Chris and E.B. were there too. ;-) And E.B. actually bought my lunch. Thanks E.B.!

Some celebrity comments:

"If Dave and I were in a 1980's
prime-time drama, then he would play the older, corrupt
brother and I would play the younger, more loveable
brother. Then we could name the drama after a southern
town and give it a jubilant and adventurous, yet tense,
theme song. Yes sir, Lincolnton would be a big
hit." - Patrick Duffy |

"The administration's mighty fine, They've got Dave Andrews and Adam Cline The two handsomest devils this side of Houston Texas. The ladies think they're a couple of hunks The fellas say they're both just punks But we all know that women are the smarter of the sexes." - Halle Berry |

"Dave Andrews, I'm just a caveman. I
fell into some ice and later got thawed out by some of
your scientists. Your world frightens and confuses me.
Sometimes when I get a message on my computer I wonder:
Did little demons get inside and type it? I don't know!
My primitive mind can't grasp these concepts. But there
is one thing I do know. That Dave Andrews is one fine
fellow." - Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer |

"It is well that war is so terrible, or
we should grow too fond of it. Oh yes, and happy birthday
or whatever this is about." - General Robert E. Lee |
My comments:
| Dave, you are a
friend and a compatriot and a mentor and former boss all
in one. Although I'm not sure want a compatriot is, I'm
sure you are one because you're awesome. I am impressed
with your ability to handle any situation confidently.
Everyone feels a little safer when Dave Andrews is
around. I also greatly appreciate your sense of humor,
which is similar to mine. Except for all those disgusting
movies which you find funny. And thank you also for the 4
year award - it was an unexpected surprise! Dave, you are
simply the best at what you do and are perfectly suited
for your job at CCC. I appreciate your friendship - stay
strong in the Lord! - Kevin |
