Adam Cline - 2004 Rememberies
I remember this time that Adam and I were to go to Camp Carolwood together to visit campfire. The campfire ended up being dominated by one very animated character, who played guitar and had a very emotional sharing. The songs he and his buddy played were in no way related to CCC, the Bible, or anything Christian in any way, nor did they attempt to relate them. They also (incidentally) played loudly over Laura Spiker as she tried to play the violin during worship. Anywho, there were several distractions during campfire, mainly (1) Rex, Zona's dog (2) A fireworks episode (done by an adult camper) during sharing, and (3) much "hooting and hollering" from the campers like we were at Def Comedy Jam. However, none of this kept Adam from being very cynical about the whole thing.
Good times
I remember this time that Pfeiffer held a worship that featured blood being spread on a wooden cross. The worship was held in the chapel, and afterwards the chapel floor was covered with blood (red paint.) Kevin was there and stayed with the staff as they cleaned up the paint, and even took a few pictures, figuring it would be good for a laugh later on. He was wrong. Upon seeing the pictures, Adam became so mad that (in Traci's words) he felt like he was going to throw up. Dave, meanwhile, was eirily calm. Yet the situation was handled gracefully, with the three highest-ranking administrators all going to Pfeiffer that same night and each having words with Alex Davis, the camp director. What is omitted from this official report is all the advice and encouragement that Adam gave to Kevin as he fielded calls from that camp director all day long.

I remember this time that one Charlie Dunn came to the CCC office to have words with Adam about his camp experience. These words ended up lasting approximately an hour and a half. The main thing that stands out in my mind is that there were 10 missing watermelons after Charlie's week at McCall. Those watermelons remain missing to this day.
good times
I remember this time that Adam grilled bratwurst on Dave's grill. Much later he found at that you were supposed to boil the bratwurst first in order to avoid huge flare-ups, like those in the fire swamp on the Princess Bride.
good times
I remember this time that Adam grilled a bunch of chicken and steak and junk, and Clark was there. And Adam put heavy amounts of seasoning in the vegetables including (but not limited to) salt, pepper, garlic, garlic salt, butter, and large amounts of Stubb's basting sauce ("Ladies and gentlemen, I'm a cook.") Biting into an onion with that much seasoning on it is quite an experience. However all bellies were filled and all mouths were silenced.

I remember this time that Adam and Kevin talked with the rest of the administration about whether or not Clark was going to sign the lease. The conversation centered around Clark's ambiguous comment: "I want to stay." This same conversation was held at least five times, with Adam or Kevin always doing the same impression of Clark saying the same thing.
good times
I remember this time that Adam called me and left a 13-minute message while I was at Patton Springs about how to handle the now-infamous "Jacquetta situation."

"Adam:
If you've been touched by JESUS, then you should be
living JESUS' kind of LIFE! If you KNOW better than you
ought to DO better! If you DO better you're gonna BE
better! Don't act like you don't KNOW! SOMEBODY HERE
knows what I'm talking ABOUT!" - Dr. Tony Evans |

"Adam
- Mary Kate and Ashley here, America's most photographed
teenagers. The only photos more common than ours are
those that Adam takes of campers standing in a circle or
playing volleyball. Take it from us - you can't have too
many pictures of teenagers doing the same things." - Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen |

"I'm
George Orwell, and I wrote a book entitled 1984, which
was set in a time 5 years prior to the inception of
Carolina Cross Connection. The year is not that important
since I intended the book mostly as a political satire,
not a literal interpretation, but you may find the book
of interest nonetheless." - George Orwell |

My comments:
| Adam, this has
been a great summer. It seems like there's never been a
summer when I've been working for Carolina Cross
Connection that Adam Cline wasn't also working there,
largely because that is true. But you are a good friend
who has put up with me & my annoying sense of humor
through the years. And this summer has been no exception.
I enjoy seeing you in action because you are a true
professional. And I do not know of anyone who can rival
you in terms of videography! If that's even the right
term. Peace and hair grease my friend! It's been real!
See ya at the apartment! - Kevin |
